Roller blinds for Somerset West's view homes.

The workhorse of the whole range: a fabric panel on an aluminium tube, made to measure per window, in blockout, sunscreen or both on one bracket.

Blockout, sunscreen, or both on one bracket

Roller blinds answer most windows in most Somerset West homes precisely because the fabric choice does the work. Blockout gives a bedroom or media room total dark, whatever the estate's security lighting is doing outside after sunset. Sunscreen fabric — usually 3% or 5% openness — cuts glare and UV on view-facing glass while keeping the Helderberg or a run toward the bay clearly in view.

Where a room needs both — a view-facing main bedroom is the classic case — a double roller pairs sunscreen and blockout on one bracket. Sunscreen by day keeps the mountain in the window; blockout closes the room down properly once the sun's gone.

  • Blockout fabric for total dark in bedrooms, nurseries and media rooms
  • Sunscreen fabric (3%, 5% or 10% openness) keeps the view while cutting glare and UV
  • Double roller (day & night) combines both on one bracket for view-facing bedrooms
  • Chain control with child-safe tensioners, spring-assist, or fully motorised
  • Cassette pelmets to hide the tube, fascia colour-matched to your window frames

Specifier note

Very wide unbroken spans — beyond roughly 3m of fabric — usually need a central join line or a linked, motorised pair rather than one oversized blind. We'll flag this at the measure rather than let it be a surprise on install day.

Built for a two-horizon spec

Somerset West stands often catch the Helderberg on one side of the house and a run toward False Bay on the other, which means the sun problem isn't fixed to a single wall. Sunscreen rollers are the default on whichever elevation runs hottest by mid-afternoon — a blockout roller on its own would kill the view along with the glare. In estate homes with committee rules on external appearance, roller blinds sit entirely inside the glass line, so they never need architectural sign-off.
